This tutorial is all about a classic: The Cupid
In the video below, it includes all the tips and tricks you need to get into this tricky shape!
This is an intermediate level move that involves going out of an invert. But don't worry! This tutorial will also show you how it works from the floor, so even as a beginner you can learn how to get this beautiful pose.
On top there are two beautiful variations you can try out to get different lines out of one trick.
Let Gianna Locher of IG: @giannasophie teach you how to do this pole trick.
Gianna Locher is wearing Sticky Fishnet Leggings, click the link below to know more about this pole wear.
Just a reminder that this includes two of variations that you can choose from. There are beginner and intermediate variations so make sure you work on your pole fitness exercise and do warm ups to avoid pole injuries. This pole trick relies on your shoulder strength and core.
Gianna also included some exercise for conditioning at the end of the video. You can watch it below:
Step 1: Hook your leg on the pole. When hooking your leg, make sure your leg is straightened out, to create a better grip behind the knee and on the pole
Once your leg is hooked on the pole, push your hips forward and your ankle moves toward your butt. Keep your knee aligned with your hip.
Step 2: Grab pole with your hand(s).
Step 3: Lift your other leg up to the pole and push your body up. Once in position, let go of your bottom hand and lean out. Position your hips forward to balance your body and let go of your other hand.
Step 4: To exit out of this position, grab pole with both hands and come down.
Step 1: Start off with the outside leg hang position. Once in position, maintain the grip on the pole with your knee and grab the pole with both hands.
Position the upper hand at the top, and the bottom hand at the bottom of your hooked leg.
Step 2: Using your bottom hand, push your body away to move your free leg to the pole.
You want to position your foot on the pole in such a way that your knee and hip are aligned when you straighten your leg out.
Step 3: Push your body up by straightening your bottom leg. As your body moves up, release the bottom hand. Once in position, move your hips in front to balance your body.
Step 4a: Let go of your other hand and create a beautiful shape with your arms for the cupid pose.
Step 4b:
Cupid Variation #1
Lean your body all the way down and back, and slide your bottom foot a little lower.
Position your arms to your individual style.
Step 4c:
Cupid Variation #2
Grab the ankle of your hooked leg and squeeze the pole tightly. Bring your bottom leg closer to the pole into a split like pole position.
Look downwards as you do this pose.
Step 5:
To exit out of this position, grab the pole and move down into the outside leg hang and invert down.
